Good Stuff Enjoyed in 2012

L. Timmel Duchamp, editor and publisher at Aqueduct Press, has offered an annual alternative to "year's best" lists at the press's blog, Ambling Along the Aqueduct. What she does is to ask writers to write about their favorite reading, viewing, and listening during the past year, regardless of the year in which those particular artifacts were produced. My contribution to this year's series is here.

A New Short Fiction Collection

A new collection of my short fiction, Dream of Venus and Other Science Fiction Stories, which contains all of the stories set in the background of my Venus Trilogy, is now out from Wildside Press as one-half of Wildside Double #27. I've included an introduction and afterwords to the stories. On the other side of this volume, readers can enjoy Decimated, ten early short story collaborations by Jack Dann and George Zebrowski with biographical commentary by the authors. Just in time for the holidays, and you can order the book here.

UPDATE: This book is also available from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and other bookstores and vendors.

The Sunken City

My 1986 novel Venus of Dreams had in its first chapter one character recalling a trip to New York City, where she had explored the submerged towers of Manhattan by boat. Pieces in this past Sunday's New York Times indicate that this particular prediction may pan out sooner than I expected back then.
