Going Back to School

On April 11, I spoke at my alma mater, Albany Academy for Girls (merged with the boys' school across the street in 2007 to become the Albany Academies) as part of their 2011-2012 Alumni/ae Speaker Series. First there was a Q & A at the girls' school with some extremely articulate and well-prepared sixth-grade students, and then I went across the street to speak to upper school (9th to 12th grade) girls and boys. It turned out to be a wonderful experience, and much to my surprise, not a single person asked me where I get my ideas.

From the Archives

I gave this interview at Philcon in 2004. My responses are transcribed and unedited, meaning readers can see exactly how inarticulate I can be. One of my statements in the interview: "It's just amazing to me. I mean, things that I would have thought would have been settled are apparently not, in the minds of anywhere from 25 to 50 percent of my fellow citizens." Guess I nailed it there.

Interview at I Just Wanna Sit Here and Read

Here's an interview with me about Earthseed at the Web site I Just Wanna Sit Here and Read, in which I forget to mention that it was Paramount that took the option on my novel and admit to having two collectible Barbie dolls in my office.

Book Reviewers

The good folks at SF Signal's Mind Meld decided to open up a can of worms by asking some writers for their thoughts about reviewers. To read what they have to say, go here, and scroll down for my contribution.
